Rakia Bar, since 2006

WHAT IS RAKIA?

Rakia is a spirit made from double distilled fermented fruit. “Rakia” is simply a different name for what French call “Eau-de Vie”, Italians call “Aqua Vitae”, the New York Times calls “Fruit essence captured in a bottle” and you can think of it simply as fruit brandy. All of our Rakia is organically made with no added sugars or synthetic flavors. Distilling magic happens in very small batches of 90L, using traditional old school stills. There are no buttons, electronics, timers or computers involved – just skilled still masters controlling the process. Rakia is generally bottled direct from the still without ageing in casks. This preserv es its fruity character and leaves the spirit clear of color. Rakia is the most popular alcoholic drink in the Balkans. Always sipped in company of good friends and food, Rakia is sure to offer a unique and unforgettable experience. Ziveli!

WHERE IS THE CUISINE AT RAKIABAR FROM?

Rakia Bar's kitchen is inspired by Central and Eastern European cuisine. Think of classical, seasonal European home-cooking with a touch of Toronto flair.

I AM A VEGETARIAN, CAN I EAT A PROPER MEAL AT RAKIABAR?

YES. Vegetarianism is not a limitation, it is an opportunity for us to explore the possibilities of our cuisine. We put as much thought into providing a savoury experience for our vegetarian guests as we do our meat eaters. No: "lettuce salad with a slice of bread."

I AM A VODKA DRINKER, WHAT CAN I HAVE AT RAKIABAR AS AN ALTERNATIVE?

THE QUESTION OF QUESTIONS! There is a whole wide world of options that you perhaps never knew existed. Rakiabar has a wonderful cocktail list that features none of the classics you know. Our spirits collection will leave you questioning why you have been drinking a potato or grain distillate when there is a spiritual family of drinks that flows from the fruit baskets of Europe. But, if you insist, we do offer a standard bar rail and some delicious Vodka's as well.

DO YOU TAKE RESERVATIONS?

Absolutely and with pleasure. Friday and Saturday evenings we encourage reservations 3-5 days in advance.
